Originally from the mountains of Minas Gerais, Octávio Deluchi, 29, is one of the leading classical guitarists of his generation, with more than fifteen national and international awards, and a body of work that spans international performances, artistic production, collaborations, education, and research. An active touring soloist, he has performed across Brazil, the United States, Chile, Colombia, and the United Kingdom, appearing at venues such as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Davis Performance Hall, and Sala de Conciertos Luis Ángel Arango.
Grounded in classical traditions and deeply versed in popular idioms, Deluchi focuses heavily on performer-composer collaborations and concert guitar repertoire from South America. He has premiered and recorded works by Sérgio Assad, João Luiz, Vicente Paschoal, Marco Pereira, and Luis Carlos Barbieri. His album Borogodó was released by the Grammy-winning label Kuarup, placing him alongside foundational figures in Brazilian music. A published author, his latest book of arrangements Chiquinha Gonzaga: Guitar Arrangements (Les Productions d'Oz, Canada) brought global distribution to pivotal Brazilian compositions, rediscovering the music from a 19th-century woman composer through the solo guitar.
Augustine Artist, Deluchi serves as director of the Mostra de Violão da Lira Ceciliana and in 2024 founded SERTÃO Americas, an international cultural platform advancing musical and artistic initiatives across Brazil. He was a coordinator at BCGC - Brazilian Classical Guitar Community. He holds a doctorate from Stony Brook University, with prior degrees from Radford University and the Federal University of São João del-Rei.
